Preservation Texas is the advocate for preserving the historic resources of Texas.
Preservation Texas is the only private, nonprofit membership organization
in Texas that is dedicated to being a full-service statewide preservation
organization. As a Statewide Partner with the National Trust for
Historic Preservation, we are expanding our activities in preservation.
We are building partnerships between government and nonprofit organizations,
promoting the preservation of Texas' historic courthouses and developing
other preservation programs to protect the irreplaceable in Texas.
Preservation Texas was founded in 1985 by a group of volunteers
concerned with the preservation of the built environment in Texas.
Today, Preservation Texas has a twenty-one member Board
of Directors and two full-time staff members. Members include
individuals, government agencies, local nonprofit organizations
and other groups concerned with preserving Texas' built environment
and historic sites and resources.
The goals of Preservation Texas include the preservation of historic
resources of Texas by:
- Educating through conferences and seminars
- Advocating for local, state and national policies that promote
preservation
- Collaborating through peer groups and associations with other
organizations
- Communicating through a quarterly newsletter, Web site, Advocacy
Alerts and other publications
